Shannon L Gaub
Artist & Teacher
Creative expression has been a constant undercurrent in my life - a way of seeing and understanding the world around me. Although my professional career led me down the path of computer programming and systems analysis, my passion for art never faded. When I returned to art with intention, I became deeply immersed in oil painting and drawing.
In my work, I strive to capture the quiet intrigue and subtle beauty of everyday objects. I’m especially drawn to still life painting because it allows me to suggest a visual narrative through thoughtful choices in design, composition, and lighting. By carefully arranging familiar forms, I create the opening of a story—one that invites viewers to slow down, observe closely, and complete the narrative through their own perceptions and experiences.
I also teach workshops at a variety of studios, with the goal of creating a positive, engaging, and encouraging environment for every student — and of course, having fun along the way.
I’m deeply passionate about helping students unlock their artistic potential, and I love witnessing their growth, accomplishments, and the joy that art brings into their lives. I firmly believe that creating art is a gift we give ourselves. Art allows us to slow down and invites us to relax. It provides a way to connect with the world and to navigate stressful times.
